Room is next to the lift motor and I have had constant loud knocking noises all night. The bathroom is disgusting and had previous inhabitants bodily hair where the toilet does not meet the replacement toilet. It's in the city centre. Such a shame that it is so tired and run down as with some attention would be superb, the room was extremely dated and had a fusty smell, parts of the carpet had been ripped up and very worn, the bed was as hard as a board and springs kept pinging throughout lying in it, The bathroom door looked like someone had been punching at it as it had been patched up in a few places.
The location was ideal, the structure of the old building and friendliness of the staff.

Dirty shabby interior. Spiked carpets. Bathroom door slams into bath.

Chipped furniture. Cracks on all walls. Filthy net curtain half covering window right next to toilet - which is overlooked by building directly opposite. Unfriendly receptionist. No biscuits with coffee. No iron. No toiletries. Overall nasty experience.

Proximity to train station. The vicinity of the hotel. Just one lift working the room was small very hot. Dated, and furnishings needs bringing up to standard. Also the ginger haired woman behind the desk was high on drugs who we were dealing with. Room wasn't up to expected standard Walls and skirting were all scuffed, furniture marked, carpet and chair were stained.
Room very hot and couldn't open the window. Crompton's Restaurant food was very goodt. Really enjoyed breakfast.
Staff were excellent. Was pleased to be able to watch the football in the hotel bar. I have recently return from a 2 night break at Adelphi hotel in Liverpool and was very disappointed with my stay. On arriving at the hotel I noticed a very bad smell of smoke, upon check in I was offered a smoking or non smoking room, as a non smoker I did think that all hotels, bars and any indoor places had a non smoking policy. This first made me feel sick of how bad it smelt, and things just went down hill from here.
We was given a room on the 5th floor which we had to walk up and down all the steps as only one lift was in use and over 20 people were waiting for the lift most of the time, when we tried getting a lift to the ground floor we was waiting over 10 minutes just to get the lift.
For the size of this hotel I would expect all lifts to be in working order. We had breakfast included in the price and this was not the best smelt of fat in the eating room, staff rude and were not interested, dirty glasses and knife and folks.
The stairs to the floors were covered in cigarette butts and in general very unclean. The room its self was unclean, wall paper hanging off the walls carpets looked as if they had not been vacuumed and the toilet didn't flush right for the whole stay. As to be expected with Brittannia hotels, and exceptional building, but lacking in the quality care and attention it's needed over the years.
So looking a little worse for wear and bedraggled in places.
Beautiful building. Huge comfortable room albeit in need of a bit of quality tlc , great staff as always, great location, which wasn't bad for noise at all and that's on an international football night! Old, dirty rooms. No mirror, no hairdryer and only one electric point - none by the bed which was needed for a CPAP machine.
Nothing at all. Breakfast was bland using cheap products. Awful pillows, badly stained dirty carpets poor furniture. Room had noise from elevator throughout night which required use of ear-plugs in order to sleep.
One elevator out of action throughout stay. Old world charm in good location. Error: Please enter a valid email address. Error: Oops! An error has occurred.
